Councilmember David Howard is one of the latest members to join Smart Growth America’s Local Leaders Council. This nonpartisan group is dedicated to facilitating collaboration and networking among local leaders from across the country who have a shared interest in using smart growth strategies to generate economic returns, save taxpayer money and provide housing and transportation options near jobs, shops and schools.

“For me, smart growth is the strategic coordination of land use, transportation, and environmental policies resulting in communities with a strong economic development framework and a strong quality of life for citizens. I am pleased to join Smart Growth America’s Local Leaders Council to lend my voice to conversations and dialogues that support such efforts,” said Councilmember Howard.

Membership to the Local Leaders Council is by invitation, issued to exceptional leaders with a track record in applying smart growth to strengthen communities. Over 130 leaders are part of the network representing diverse cities and counties across the nation.
